Hiring of candidates
Labour Law enables the option of hiring nannies in families under the category Labour relations with house staff, whereas employment of nannies is also possible through hiring an employment agency, by which parents are released from any administrative obligations (other than the payment of the salary for the nanny, with all pertaining taxes and contributions, and the agency fee), and the nanny is hired compliant with the law (her pension insurance is paid, she has the mandatory insurance, and paid taxes).
Profession of a nanny has a long-term tradition – in the past, nannies lived with the families in which they were responsible for taking care of the children. During the 19th and 20th century, their role evolves into child-nourishing one. At the time, only wealthy families had nannies, and it was a sort of prestige among the noble families. Responsibilities of a nanny were well known, and they were very proud of their status. Nowadays it is not that strange for families to engage a nanny to take care of children full-time, while they are at work. It is not rare to offer the engagement to a nanny by which she actually lives with the family, and even travels with them to summer-vacations and holidays. However, even though the job of a nanny is still one of the most responsible jobs in the world, it seems that this profession is not that appreciated in the society as it used to be.
In order to engage a nanny, and pay all of her services adequately, it is necessary that we hire her. Labour Law provides this option under the category Labour relation with house staff, meaning that the employer may be an individual (mother or father), while the job description and other items required by the Labour Law would be defined by the contract.
If parents do not have enough time to handle the preparation of this type of contract, they have the option of completing all the legal and financial obligations toward the nanny through an employment agency. This means that they can sign a contract with the employment agency – a contract between the family (formally, one member of the family), the nanny and the agency. By this contract, the agency is obliged to pay the fee for the rendered services to the nanny on a certain date in the month, and the family is obliged to pay the same amount to the agency, with the additional fee for the administrative obligations of the agency. In this way, nanny gets the status of an employed person who exercises all the rights from employment through the labour contract.
Parents are released from any administrative obligations (other than the payment of the salary for the nanny, with all pertaining taxes and contributions, and the agency fee), the nanny is hired compliant with the law (her pension insurance is paid, she has the mandatory insurance, and paid taxes), and they can continue their long-term cooperation together.
Money expenditure which this type of engagement of a nanny entails covers all the additional expenses in addition to the net salary of the nanny, and it also ensures long-term cooperation between the nanny and the family, considering that the nanny will not be looking for other jobs which would provide her with a labour contract, if she is provided with it precisely for the job she wanted to do in the first place.
